As the campus of Virginia Tech eagerly waits for the launch of the new dining facility, the grand opening is planned to take place in Fall 2024, just in time for the 2024-2025 school year. With construction underway, many employees are gearing up to prepare students with an all-inclusive dining experience.
Jeremiah Gardner, assistant director of dining services, has provided behind-the-scenes insights into what students should expect for the upcoming school year. With eight new collaborative dining choices to choose from the traffic flow in Perry Place at Hitt Hall is bound to exceed expectations and broaden the culinary experience for each student.

For many student employees, Perry Place represents more than just a dining hall. When interviewing Teonna Jones, student dining staff have the opportunity to broaden their skills in culinary and customer service, and can even receive certified culinary training, which can lead to competing for scholarships and funds against other schools across the country.
With the need to hire a productive and efficient dining service staff, Jeremiah Gardner stated that “they are looking to hire an additional 290 students who will complete multiple skills training for the facility to run smoothly during the grand opening in the upcoming fall semester.”
Perry Place has two purposes- experiential dining and convenience. Chick-fil-A, AMP Coffee Bar, Solarex Diner, Trax Deli, Addison’s, Smoke, Fresh & Feta, Veloce, and Rambutan are the choices students are eligible to choose from at Perry Place.
Perry Place at Hitt Hall is the second dining hall on the academic side of campus. The dining hall includes a Boar’s head deli, an all-day breakfast diner, a coffee bar, Mediterranean dishes, Italian food, Asian cuisine, and a smokehouse with high-quality meats to barbecue.
As the countdown for the grand opening of Perry Place continues, Virginia Tech student employees are embracing the challenges and opportunities that lie ahead for the future.
